PROGRAMS

OUR PROGRAMS: A CONTINUUM OF CURIOSITY

At Brickton Montessori, education is not a series of disconnected grades, but a seamless journey of discovery that follows the natural development of your child. For 40 years, we have provided an authentic Montessori environment where children don't just learn—they thrive.

From the gentle, nurturing "nest" of our Nido to the socially conscious leadership of our Middle School, every program at Brickton is designed to honor the "whole child” with an individualized approach that respects each student's pace, interests, and innate potential.

MONTESSORI VS. TRADITIONAL LEARNING

BRICKTON MONTESSORI

TRADITIONAL SCHOOL

Classroom Structure

Multi-Age Groupings: 3-year age spans allow for peer mentoring and social stability.

Single-Grade: Children are grouped strictly by birth year, limiting peer-to-peer learning.

Learning Pace

Individualized: Students progress as they master concepts, not according to a calendar.

Uniform: The entire class moves at the same pace, often leaving some behind or bored.

Teacher Role

The Guide: Teachers observe and facilitate; the child is the center of the process.

The Lecturer: The teacher is the primary source of information at the front of the room.

Motivation

Internal: Curiosity and the satisfaction of mastery drive the child.

External: Grades, gold stars, and tests are the primary motivators.

Environment

Prepared: Materials are hands-on, self-correcting, and aesthetically beautiful.

Textbook-Based: Learning is often passive and limited to paper, pencils, and screens.

EXPERIENCE THE CONTINUUM

There is no better way to understand these differences than to see them in person. Watch a toddler prepare a snack, a 2nd grader explains a division problem with golden beads, or an 8th grader lead a seminar.

Feedback

The Brickton Experience

“We have been a Brickton family for six years, and the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The staff are compassionate and caring, the students are thoughtful and kind, and the Montessori style of learning has been a great match for our child.”
